Reading survey

You know on myspace? They always have these surveys that people post on the bulletin boards? Well I normally just ignore them but my sister ad co-founder of this book club, (If you want to join just leave a comment and let us know) she posted a survey on myspace about reading. I was excited about that one. So I filled it out and here it is!

1) What Author do you own the most books by? Not including the books that my sister has of mine, that she can keep, I would have to say Neil Gaiman. I have many. Although I guess they are technically mine seeing as my ex gave them to me and we don't talk so I guess I am keeping them. 2) What book do you own the most copies of? The Bible 3) Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions? At first I didn't even know what a preposition was till I looked at the last word of the last two sentences. Now I know. I don't give a care. 4) What fictional character are you secretly in love with? Seth Morgan from Wicked Lovely 5) What book have you read the most times in your life? The Bible and A Wrinkle in Time books, The Hobbit and harry Potter 6) Favorite book as a ten year old? Probably the Ramona Quimby books 8) What is the best book you’ve read in the past year? SPARKLES 9) If you could force everyone you know to read one book, what would it be? The Harry Potter Series 10) What book would you most like to see made into a movie? Wicked Lovley. Although I don;t know if I would like the way they look or not. 11) What is the worst book movie adaptation you’ve seen? The Devil Wears Prada, it was a really good book and the movie was good but not very accurate to the book. I have to agree with sarah on this one. 12) What is the most difficult book you’ve ever read? I might have to say the host. (sorry Sarah) It took me forever to read it. I don't think that this is the answer for "ever" but I will have to say for this year. 13) What is your favorite book? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 13) Play? A Midsummer’s Night Dream 14) What was the last non-fiction book you read? Financial Peace 15) Do you ever associate music to the books you read? All the time! 16) Who is the most overrated writer alive today? ummm…Stephenie Meyer. I like her books, but… you know 17) What is your desert island book? Sparkles and Harry Potter 18) What book are you looking forward to coming out this year? Splendor by Anna Godbersen, the 4th book in The Luxe series and the Van Allen Legacy. 19) Which book would you like to see a sequel published? Fragile Eternity 20) And… what are you reading right now? The Devil You Know.

Book reviews

I just wrote a little review of the Wicked Lovely series by Melissa Marr. But I have to say that just as good as the books are by review was that bad. haha. I am hoping that my review will get better the more practice I have at writing them. I hope that someday I will come back to this blog and reread these and laugh at myself for how lame these first ones are.

Wicked Lovely

I have just read the Wicked Lovely series. I loved it! I can't wait for the next one to come out although I have no idea when that will happen seeing as the 3rd one just came out this year. But the good news is that each book came out in 3 consecutive years so hopefully it won't be more than a year before the next one comes out.

I will give a little review of the three books trying to not spoil anything for those who have not read it yet.

These are my first books that I have read about Faeries. I did not know if I was going to like them or not. I normally don't read fantasy/fairy tale books. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I liked them.

These stories are almost a continuation of each other. It is as if they are one story in three separate book. Although I say this, each book has it's own plot. There are the same characters in all three books, the stories are in accord with each other, (I hate it when I read a series and there are facts that are not the same in each book) but the plot changes.

The gist of the plot is that there is a girl who can see Faeries. She has grown up her whole life in fear of them and her grandmother warns her to stay away from them, for certain reasons unbeknownst to the main heroine.
This is also a love story. The heroine, Aislinn, is in a relationship with a boy which turns into a love triangle. Although this love that she has for the boy and the love that he has for her is an amazing love. It makes me want that. I love how he loves her. I will not get into the love triangle part of this story although it is a reoccurring theme throughout the books.
Aislinn tries to keep her mortal friends from entering this faery world because she has seen many things that goes on there and it scares her. She fear for her friends, family and loved ones.
Read these stories if you want a good fantasy/fairy tale full of love, suspense and good faery fun!

Once Upon a Time III

I have finished my first reading quest. I had joined the challenge from Stainless Steel Droppings. When my book club, my sister, sent me the link and suggested we join we were pretty late in starting the quest as it was already May 20th and the quest was from March 20th to June 20th. At first I started off with just the journey thinking that I wouldn't be able to read 5 books from the genres available. But after I joined the challenge on J Kaye's book blog, of reading 100 books this year, I had to think back and remember all that I had read. So I made a list on my last post and after thinking about what all I had read I realized that I can now accomplish the quest the first. Yay!

To accomplish Quest the First one must read five books from any of the four genres.
MyBoldthology, folklore, fairy-tale, and fantasy. These are the books that I have read in the past three months that fit in those categories.

1. The Host by Stephanie Meyer Mythology
2. Revelations by Melissa De La Cruz Mythology
3. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr Fantasy/Fairy-tale
4. Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr Fantasy/Fairy-tale
5. Fragile Eternity by Melissa Marr Fantasy/Fairy-tale

Readings of 2009

Like I promised in my last post, I am going to go back and try to remember the books that I have read these past 6 months. I am having a hard time remembering what I read in the month of January. I know I must have been reading something. I know what I was reading in the month of February because I was visiting my boyfriend and reading these books. That is the earliest I can remember right now. Maybe my sister can help me remember what I read before these books.

Ok here is the beginning of my list.

1. The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella
2. Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
3. Shopaholic takes Manhattan by Sophie Kinsella
4. Shopaholic ties the Knot by Sophie Kinsella
5. Shopaholic and Sister by Sophie Kinsella
6. Shopaholic and Baby by Sophie Kinsella
7. Can you Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella
8. Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella
9. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
10. New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
11. The Luxe by Anna Godbersen
12. Rumors by Anna Godbersen
13. Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer
14. Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
15. Cocktails for Three by Madeleine Wickham
16. The Host by Stephenie Meyer
17. Financial Peace by Dave Ramsey
18. Blue Bloods by Melissa De la Cruz
19. Masquerade by Melissa De la Cruz
20. Gatecrasher by Madeleine Wickham
21. Sleeping Arrangements by Madeleine Wickham
22. Envy by Anna Godbersen
23. Revelations by Melissa De la Cruz
24. Sparkles by Louise Bagshawe
25. Wicked Lovely Melissa Marr

This is my list so far. At the moment I can't think of what else I have read. Sarah if you can remember something let me know. I can't remember if that is everything. If you can think of what I was reading before the Shopaholic's or if there are any other series or single books that I forgot in there let me know.

This makes me a bit nervous. The year is nearly half over and I am only a quarter of the way to 100. I had best be picking up the pace!

Reading Quests

That's right its "reading Quests" I am on two quests or challenges. The first one I joined a couple weeks ago it is the Once Upon a Time quest from stainlesssteeldroppings.com. I didn't know about till the last month of this quest. So I am on "the Journey". You have to read something from fantasy, fairy-tale, folklore or mythology. For the journey quest you just have to read one book from any of the categories. So I have completed that quest by reading Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr.

I had never read book about faeries before and I really enjoyed the one that I just read. I am now reading the sequel to it called Ink Exchange.

Now I am going to have to go back in my memory banks to remember what books I have read this year and that will be my next post. It might take a few posts to remember them all but I will keep track from now on. This challenge is posted by J Kaye's Book Blog.   The challenge is to read 100 book in the year 2009. I think I can do it. I wouldn't be surprised if it is not too hard at all. I hope I am not going to be scrambling at the end of the year to complete it. I hope not.

Here's to happy and enjoyable reading.
